DataCore offers native FCoE

Storage virtualisation product vendor DataCore Software has announced support for native Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) connectivity in its SANmelody and SANsymphony products. The company has added Emulex and Brocade FCoE converged network adapters (CNAs) and Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switches to its FCoE-qualified support list, and plans to add more products over the coming year.

DataCore products allow users to create a single common pool of storage from commodity or heterogeneous vendor disk arrays. FCoE support will allow servers and storage to send Fibre Channel over Ethernet networks instead of having to use a dedicated fabric.

"Our customers can immediately take advantage of FCoE in their highly scalable, non-stop storage pools without having to replace or modify their existing back-end storage," said Augie Gonzalez, DataCore's director of product marketing, "which may well include DAS, iSCSI and Fibre Channel interfaces."

Data Robotics gets VMware certification

Data Robotics has been awarded certification for interoperability with the VMware server virtualisation software platform and has advanced as a VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) programme member to "Select" membership. This means Data Robotics' DroboPro storage arrays will easily integrate into VMware virtualised environments. The TAP relationship enables Data Robotics to receive VMware technical and marketing support when customers deploy DroboPro storage arrays in VMware environments. Data Robotics' key products are Drobo and DroboPro, which are RAID-enabled storage subsystems aimed at small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and consumer users.

EMEA Office Systems, LiveOffice to offer cloud email archiving

UK reseller EMEA Office Systems (EOS) will partner with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) email archiving, hosting and continuity product vendor LiveOffice to deliver its cloud-based solutions to European businesses. This partnership extends EOS's current offering and enables the company to provide clients of all sizes with full-featured archiving and legal discovery solutions. "An increasing number of our clients are inquiring about email archiving solutions delivered via the SaaS model," said Mark Thomason, director at EOS, "and we want to make sure we are able to provide them with the best products available."

DataPipe uses 3PAR cloud products

Global managed services provider DataPipe will offer virtual private array (VPA) and disaster recovery (DR) services as part of its Stratosphere cloud services that are powered by 3PAR utility storage products. DataPipe provides custom solutions for complex Internet-facing infrastructures, and manages security, monitoring, storage, data centre operations, servers and applications, including database administration.

Zycko to distribute Infortrend arrays

Distributor Zycko has announced a partnership with disk array vendor Infortrend. The deal will see Zycko resellers gain the chance to offer Infortrend products to UK and European customers. Infortrend unveiled its new Enterprise Scalable Virtualized Architecture (ESVA) storage-area network product family in June. It features storage virtualisation, thin provisioning, distributed load balancing, array-based snapshots and replication.
