Former NetApp UK director to head up Isilon Systems EMEA sales

Network-attached storage (NAS) vendor Isilon Systems has announced the appointment of former NetApp executive Mark Stevens as vice president of sales in EMEA. Stevens served as NetApp's area director for the UK and Ireland from 2005 to 2009, during which time the vendor became the second largest storage provider in the UK.

Stevens managed all aspects of the company's sales operations in the region, including direct and channel operations, professional services and systems engineering. He joined NetApp in 2000 from EMC. Stevens will report to George Bennett, Isilon's senior vice president of worldwide field operations.

"The ongoing convergence of enterprise data storage needs with the capabilities of our scale-out NAS solutions presents a significant market opportunity for Isilon's products," Bennett said.

City of London data centre host expands in the square mile

Data centre hosting provider Interxion has expanded its City of London facility by 400 m². The new space has access to a 13 megawatt redundant power supply and 2N configuration cooling, as well as alarm and monitoring systems. It provides access to 28 carriers and network service providers, and is a point of presence for the London Internet Exchange (LINX). The expansion follows on from a 1,250 m² build-out completed in 2008.

Infortrend offers disk bundle service

Array vendor Infortrend has announced a new storage system and disk drive bundle service. EonStor Plus provides out-of-the-box storage solutions with fully tested disk drives and three-year field replacement service. Customers can choose 500 GB or 1 TB SATA drives for the EonStor Plus service; with expansion units, 2U models can be scaled up to 60 drives while 3U models can expand to 80 drives. Protocols available include Fibre Channel, iSCSI and SAS to support direct-attached storage (DAS) or storage-area network (SAN) implementations.
