IBM said its System Storage EXP12S with solid-state drive (SSD) technology recorded 45,000 IOPS throughput in Storage Performance Council (SPC) Benchmark 1C (SPC-1c) testing.

The Storage Performance Council's new SPC-1C/E benchmark extension consists of the complete set of SPC-1C performance measurements and reporting, combined with measurement and reporting of energy use. The efficiency of the System Storage EXP12S was 121.31 IOPS/watt.

The SPC-1C/E benchmark extension defines two states of benchmark execution, idle and active (performance), multiple idle phases to demonstrate power management/savings features, configuration and instrumentation requirements for energy use measurement, execution requirements for idle state measurements, the transition into active (performance) state measurements, data collection requirements for energy use measurements, and expanded disclosure and audit requirements to address the new energy use measurements and reported data.
