Plasmon archiving appliance blends online, long-term storage

An archiving solution aimed at the enterprise combines online and long-term storage archive architectures with data management software to provide data integrity, longevity and disaster recovery.

NetArchive from Plasmon PLC uses technologies that recognises different data classes have unique requirements for access, e-discovery and longevity. NetArchive integrates NetApp RAID technologies with Plasmon's Archive Appliance and intelligent data management software to allow customers to provision data within NetArchive according to their storage requirements. By provisioning data to NetArchive, data can be moved between RAID and the Archive Appliance via automated policy management software, reducing the cost and complexity of managing archives.

3PAR releases InForm Management Console for its storage servers

3PAR now offers a management interface that provides visibility and control of its InServ Storage Servers. The InForm Management console features a quick filter system, wizards, virtual domain management, charting functions and the flexible export of the console data in CSV or HTML file formats.

Dell's consulting services to help with storage management, DR

Dell now has infrastructure consulting services to help organisations improve their storage management and data protection, as well as to provide disaster recovery procedures and to implement backup recovery processes. With the services, Dell will work with customers to implement a tiered storage infrastructure where less critical data can be moved to the right tier.

CommVault's Simpana brings e-discovery and legal hold to Simpana

CommVault's Simpana 7.0 software now features a Legal Hold set and extended e-discovery capabilities. The Legal Hold features span archive and backup stores to ensure that information is preserved. The features also search and retrieve data from backups, archives or any form of electronically stored information.

InMage and Marathon Technologies join to release DR-Scout

InMage Systems' Disaster-Recovery Scout application and Marathon Technologies' everRun line will now be available together for customers. DR-Scout features data protection at the local data centre level and remote sites for operational and remote DR. The product also features push-button failover for applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL, SharePoint, Oracle, BlackBerry Server and SAP. The everRun suite prevents outages and data loss – without IT intervention – in Microsoft Windows Server and Citrix XenServer infrastructures.

BitLeap upgrades Windows restore tool

BitLeap LLC has upgraded its Windows restore tool, which was designed to restore a limited amount of data from a LeapServ network/backup appliance while on a LAN. Upgrades include encrypted offsite node restores, restore logging, automatic restoration recovery, proxy authentication and point-in-time bulk restores. The new capabilities allow the software to restore data from a local LeapServ 300% faster before.
