According to StarTech, the Mini-SAS to 4x SATA/SAS Backplane is designed for users that want to add removable storage for backups or RAID in computers with a limited number of drive bays available.

The backplane supports SATA, SAS hard drives and solid-state drives (SSD) up to 15mm in height. Each drive tray features a locking mechanism to prevent unauthorized drive removal. The backplane is constructed from vented aluminum, which helps keep installed drives cool, and also features a fan to promote air flow around the drives.

The Mini-SAS to 4x SATA/SAS Backplane is available now. MSRP is $99.99 (USD).
