The free Symantec Partner Management Console is designed to simplify the management and monitoring of Symantec Backup Exec.cloud. Symantec said the new console makes it easier and more cost-effective for managed service providers (MSPs) to deliver and manage backup solutions as managed services. The company also said the console enables fast customer setup and has easy provisioning of customer accounts and subscription management features. Using the console, MSPs can deliver customized and branded usage and status reports.
In addition to the management console, Symantec announced Backup Exec has integration with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools from Kaseya, via the Symantec Backup Exec 2012 Management Plug-in 1.1. The plug-in lets Kaseya users monitor and manage Symantec Backup Exec servers in customer environments remotely from within the Kaseya Virtual System Administrator console.
LabTech Software, for its part, announced Symantec is a member of LabTech’s Technology Alliance Partner Program. This means Symantec customers will be able to use the LabTech Software RMM platform to deploy, manage and monitor backups across multiple domains, customers and offices from one console.
Symantec had one other announcement for MSPs: pay-as-you-go pricing for Backup Exec.cloud and Symantec Backup Exec 2012 via the Enterprise Software Provider (ExSP) Program. The licensing program doesn't require upfront licensing or support fees.
ExSP licensing for Backup Exec 2012 ranges from $31.44 to $36.66 per server per month and for Backup Exec.cloud costs $3.20 per 10 GB per month.
