Synology announces four-bay DiskStation NAS

Synology America Corp. announced this week that its latest SMB-focused NAS appliance will offer a four-bay design with a new case allowing hot-swapping of hard disk drives.

Safe Harbor

is a four-bay NAS appliance aimed at SMB users that supports hot-swappable drives, supports Windows ADS and ACL, and is compatible with VMWare and Hyper-V.

The device also offers 205.68 MB-per-second reads and 182.66 MB-per-second writes, according to Synology. It is also paired with the company's DiskStation Manager software.

The appliance is Synology's first four-bay NAS to support USB 3.0, the company said.
