IBM adds LSI data protection to RAID controllers
LSI Corp. said IBM is using its data protection and performance enhancement features of the LSI MegaRAID software on the IBM ServeRAID M5000 6Gbps controllers. The M5000 Series Performance Accelerator Key is based on LSI technology, and is designed to maximize solid state drive (SSD) throughput while adding snapshots, RAID 6 and RAID 60, and data encryption for System x servers.
QuorumLabs automates DR testing
QuorumLabs added the ability to automatically test the recovery capabilities on its onQ Business Continuity Appliance. onQ 3.0 can automatically boot up Recovery Nodes in a test network to demonstrate that applications and data are available. The vendor claims the testing can be conducted in an hour.
NAND startup Anobit gets $32 million in funding
SSD vendor Anobit closed a $32 million funding round led by Intel Capital. The Israel-based vendor said it would use the funding to develop and market its Genesis SSDs, which use Anobit's Memory Signal Processing technology to help eliminate NAND endurance problems for multi-level cell (MLC) SSDs. Anobit claims to have Genesis SSDs on the market in early 2011.
Coraid adds $25 million in funding
Ethernet storage vendor Coraid Inc. closed a $25 million funding round led by Menlo Ventures. Coraid bills its EtherDrive storage systems are a lower cost alternative to iSCSI and Fibre Channel (FC) SANs, and the vendor claims it has more than 1,200 customers.
i365 makes cloud backup service live
Seagate Technology's i365 services company launched its "Cloudburst" data protection service for channel partners, using its EVault backup appliance and the company's EVault Cloud to store data for backup and disaster recovery. i365 will sell the service through VARs and service providers.
Neverfail adds cloud data protection service
Neverfail launched its Managed Cloud Hosting Partner Program to help managed service providers incorporate Neverfail's high availability and disaster recovery software into their services. Neverfail software protects Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server, and SharePoint as well as Blackberry Enterprise Server.
HP to resell Drobo storage
Data Robotics (Drobo) signed a reseller agreement with Hewlett-Packard (HP) Co. Small Business Direct, HP's online store for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). HP will sell all Drobo SMB and consumer storage systems. Drobo also said its Drobo S direct-attached storage (DAS) system supports USB 3.0 connectivity.
