QUESTION POSED ON: 22 June 2009
Q. As part of a replication strategy, I include operating systems and application instances in a replication solution. When I'm manually updating production servers and applications replicated as a part of a disaster recovery (DR) plan, do I need to do any manual intervention to apply the updates to DR?

If you've properly selected everything to be replicated, the only thing you should have to do at the remote site is turn off replication. That is, if whatever caused the disaster didn't cause logical corruption of the data at the other end. This is why it's important for your replication system to be able to produce snapshots that allow you to go back in time if or when this happens.
